AHRQ recently published their report on the quality of U.S. Health Care. According to this report, patient safety measures continue to decrease. The primary measures reviewed include: 1) Status of Health Care quality, and 2) How is quality changing over time.
Data collected during a period of 6 years indicate:
- Suboptimal health care quality with slow improvement.
- Patient safety indicators are lagging behind quality measures.
Other topics covered in the report include analysis of the effectiveness for Cancer, Diabetes, ESRD, Heart Disease, HIV and AIDS, Maternal and Child Health, Mental Health and Substance Abuse, Respiratory Diseases and Nursing Home, Home Health and Hospice Care.
