Wow, that last paragraph pretty much sums up my last 15 years.

As a software developer, I can't tell you how many hours I've spent arguing with product/program managers about the need to follow the patterns of the user rather than making them adapt to their software's patterns. There's a reason these patterns exist; especially with patient care.

Using software should feel natural; like a tool or extension of your workflow. When it makes you adapt out of your natural rhythm it leads to frustration and mistakes. I've seen it time and time again.
