Have you ever attended a Virtual Conference?
HIMSS Virtual Conference - Day One
Wow, an amazing event! Never before have I entered the virtual world, although I've heard of its existence. Today was Day One of the HIMSS Virtual Conference and WOW! - I was amazed. I virtually walked through the exhibit hall, spoke with attendees, acquired white papers and promotional material, and I attended several presentations - even those that offered continuing education units (CEUs).
Some of the topics presented included (and, Yes, I did attend each of these):
- Leveraging HIT for Patient Safety and Quality Outcomes
- HIT Adoption: Lessons Learned From One Hundred EHR Implementations
- TIGER Initiative Usability Workgroup - Crucial Components of Nurse-Friendly Systems
- Optimizing Clinical Decision Support to Address National Hospital Improvement Imperatives
I met fellow bloggers, and those who I have followed their blog posts online. I relaxed in the virtual lounge and engaged in conversation with others. When it was time to leave for the day I picked up my zipped briefcase and downloaded it to my computer to take home.
And all of this sitting in front of my computer at home. I plan to attend tomorrow too, maybe I will see you there!

I attended this virtual conference as well. I really enjoyed the experience. Lots of good info and some really good people.
My only complaint is that there weren't more people in the ambulatory care setting. Most of the people I met were from hospitals.
Otherwise, I really enjoyed the experience. I hope things like this continue to grow.
